Cooped Up: A Drive In Dance for Cooped Up People
April 11, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 8:30 pm
When vigilant social distancing is central to social and civic responsibility, how can LIVE ART shift in form, format, and delivery to be healing, rather than infectious?
LanDforms is translating the new restaurant model of curbside pickup food orders to performance, by creating a new, evening-length, participatory scavenger hunt where audience members arrive curb-side in their cars to see Drive-In-Dances by Cooped-Up People. A group of Seattle dancers will perform on their porches, in front of windows, and in their garages for carloads of audience members as they follow a predetermined route through the city that allows them to stay in their cars, windows closed, 6 feet away.

Location: Safeway at 7340 35th Ave NE
At the end of their journey, audience members will be encouraged to order takeout from local eateries, thus making their journey “necessary” and supporting Seattle restaurants all at once.
RESERVATIONS: there will be 20 car slots available. Each car will have a different, staggered start-time to ensure that there will only be one car at each location at any given time. Please share your car only with members of your household.
ACCESSIBILITY: access to this performance is limited in response to CDC recommendations in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. All audience members must have access to a car (for safe performance viewing) and smartphone (for performance navigation and sound). We regret that this will limit many peoples’ ability to participate in this experience and we apologize with compassion and awareness of folx who, by choice or by situation, will not be able to safely engage with this work. If you have ideas for ways to make future possible iterations of this work more access-centered, please reach out to email@example.com.
This performance represents ongoing research for a duet, Cupped Up, which was set to premiere at Artspace Hiawatha in spring 2020, which has now been postponed indefinitely.
