Jay Hamilton: A Sentient Lump of Coal

A sentient lump of coal is “discovered” then sent by the
Library of the Universe to various planets (a water world, a tree
world, a world of no speech only movement) to observe and
send the information back to the library. This piece is ±60
minutes in 6 sections, and includes pantomime, tap, modern
dance, and some classical movement.
Music and text by Jay Hamilton, with dancers Laura Miller
and Fernando Rocha. Jay has been active with theater and music in Seattle
since 1972ish. He grew up in the woods. This is the second piece of his to be
performed at Velocity Dance Center.
