whatcha doin’ this weekend?

SeattleDances has a busy weekend.

One of us is going to Pat Graney Company’s Keeping the Faith – the Prison Project.

Two of us are going to PNB’s Director’s Choice.

One of us is starting the two-week NW New Works Festival at On the Boards.

And two of us are going to see PNB’s sure-to-be-unforgettable Celebration of Louise Nadeau on Sunday.

None of us, alas, is going to OBT’s Rush + Robbins. That’s mostly because it’s a one-weekend-only performance, and there’s too much going on up here. Sigh. I really wanted to see it.

If you haven’t made up your mind yet, below are some links to help you along.

Have a great weekend!

Keeping the Faith – Sorry, but reservations had to be made last month, since you need clearance to attend this performance in prison. Not to worry, though. Michael Hacker is going; we’ll get a chance to see it through his eyes.

PNB’s Director’s Choice – Hm…It’s my third time, and I still can’t wait. Plus, it’s Backstage Pass night, which is always fun. (If you’re young and not a Backstage Pass member, you should be. Discounts, nice intermissions, a spread at 10 Mercer afterwards…and fun people to talk about dance with. Some dancers go, too, which isn’t as uncomfortable as it sounds.) Scroll to the bottom of the PNB link to see some short webcasts, or check out the slideshows here, or check out what the other reviewers have said here.

On the Boards NW New Works – Josh Windsor is going and has offered to report back.

PNB’s Celebration of Louise Nadeau
– It’s our last chance to see this effervescent dancer on the ballet stage, since she’s retiring after 19 years with the company. There’s 10 items on the program…mostly excerpts. One item on the program is William Forsythe’s ballet Urlicht, which PNB brought in especially for this celebratory evening. Check out the YouTube video ; it’s good stuff. The P-I had a nice little slide show on Nadeau; if you haven’t seen it yet, here it is.

Have a great weekend!
