Anchor in the Field (of Becoming)

A post-western Butoh dance work and ritual of release, transformation, and embodied presence.

Performed and co-choreographed by Sheri Brown in collaboration with Raphael Laigo, Anchor in the Field (of Becoming) ravels the body through memory, identity, and inherited belief systems — thread by thread, gesture by gesture.

The work blends Butoh, sound, visual art, historical research, light, and space into an immersive performance environment.

Stillness, rupture, and renewal moves the body toward an eventual liberation born not from escape, but from trust and transformation. Themes of debunked memories, identity, and liberation interweave with the poetic raveling of the “American suit,” revealing a re-informed landscape inside the field of identity.
