Maya Tacon and Emma Lawes (co—) are excited to announce the sixth iteration of their performance and party series. “6” will bring together a group of 8 dance artists in a low-stakes shared evening of one-night-only performance. Participating artists will share new works or works-in-progress alongside other dancers, choreographers and unexpected audiences.
The events aim to highlight individual dance performers in the Seattle community who may be new to the city or lesser known due to lack of visibility or institutional association. The 8 artists featured represent a wide range of movement styles that thrive here in Seattle, newcomers and seasoned veterans alike. Not only is “6” curated to feature vibrant, eclectic programming, but its unconventional setting eliminates the need for the proscenium stage and blurs the lines between audience and performers. A live DJ set by local favorite Calico ties the evening’s performance together and seamlessly transitions the space into a late-night dance party.
