Event Description
Heap, a Seattle-based performance troupe co-founded by Kara Beadle, Andy Zacek, and several collaborators, are excited to announce the first large-scale performance experience, HeapRide. HeapRide is a series of three 3-hour guided group bicycle ride featuring pop-up performances along the routes.
From behind their handlebars, audiences will be invited to experience Heap’s “absurdist” (Seattle Times) form of dance storytelling. A zany narrative will be revealed chapter by chapter at frequent performance pit-stops at various bike shops throughout the city encouraging audience riders to continue pedaling to each destination. The ride will target new cyclists, using art as an avenue of accessibility to help introduce riders to their local bike shops, and show them safe and fun routes around town.
With each performance featuring a different bike route, audiences can opt for a ride through their neighborhood or discover a new locale. On May 17, riders will convene at Freeway Park in Downtown Seattle.
Audiences are invited to participate for portions of the event as they are able. They can come and go between 1-2pm at Freeway Park and/or RSVP to join the group rides, where they will start at the beginning of the ride and can leave at any time as needed.
Reserve a ticket only if you are joining the bike ride. No RSVP needed for the pre-ride performance.
