About the O-Jak Bridge Art & Dance Festival

Founded in 2022 by MiYoung Margolis, the O-Jak Bridge Art & Dance Festival has become one of Seattle’s most distinctive multicultural art events — celebrating diversity through dance, visual art, live painting, and fashion.
The name O-Jak comes from a Korean folktale about two lovers separated by the Milky Way who reunite once a year on a bridge built by magpies.
In that same spirit, the festival acts as a symbolic bridge connecting cultures, artists, and audiences, uniting them through imagination, heritage, and emotion.
Festival Timeline:
• 2022 – “The Beginning: Stories of Love” — A debut celebration of love in its many forms, laying the foundation for O-Jak’s mission to connect hearts and communities.
• 2023 – “Non-Traditional Swan Lake” — A bold fusion of Korean contemporary movement with classical ballet, street dance, and multimedia art that redefined tradition.
• 2024 – “Scheherazade: One Thousand and One Nights” — A poetic exploration of storytelling and love, featuring over 80 artists across dance, fashion, and live painting.
• 2025 – “Wonderland” — A global reimagining of Alice in Wonderland, bringing together over 100 artists and visual creators to bridge East and West, art and audience, imagination and reality.
Through these productions, O-Jak has grown from a single-stage performance into a movement for artistic unity and cross-cultural exchange — building bridges not only between art forms but between people.

Step into Wonderland this fall at the 4th annual O-Jak Bridge Art & Dance Festival — Seattle’s most imaginative celebration where dance, visual art, music, and fashion converge on one stage.

At its heart, O-Jak was founded as a cultural bridge — a platform where traditions meet innovation, and where artists and audiences from diverse backgrounds can come together in dialogue. By weaving dance, visual art, music, and fashion into a single immersive experience, O-Jak celebrates both heritage and experimentation. More than just a stage, it is a festival dedicated to community building, cross-cultural understanding, and the belief that art can connect us across boundaries.

Founded and directed by Seattle artist and choreographer MiYoung Margolis, O-Jak brings together more than 100 international and local artists, weaving together Korean, Chinese, and Cambodian traditions alongside Taekwondo, Ballet, and Contemporary dance into a breathtaking tapestry of movement and expression.

✨ This year’s theme, “Wonderland,” transforms the stage into a dreamscape across three immersive acts:

Act 1: Descent into Wonderland — Alice’s first steps into the surreal, guided by whimsical ballet, pantomime, and ensemble works.
Act 2: Tea Party, “Disrupted Time & Space” — A kaleidoscope of surreal trains, fantastical tea ceremonies, live painting, and cross-cultural collaborations that bend reality.
Act 3: Chess Game & Awakening — A climactic duel of queens, martial artistry, and the delicate return from dream to reality.

Beyond the stage, audiences will encounter live painting performances, innovative fashion showcases, and original compositions, making O-Jak not just a performance but a fully immersive cultural experience.
