SUMMARY:Heather Kravas: RoCoCoCoCo
DESCRIPTION:RoCoCoCoCo — A Situation for Dancing\, in Four Movements\n\nI. March 26\, 7:30 PM · one hour | First Movement: Allegro Symone Sanz & Julia Sloane\nII. March 27\, 7:30 PM · one hour | Second Movement: Adagio Carlin Kramer & Amanda Morgan\nIII. March 28\, 7:30 PM · one hour | Third Movement: Andante Allie Hankins & Sylvia Schatz-Allison\nIV. April 2\, 7:30 PM · one hour | Finale & Coda | The Cast\nV. April 3\, 7:30 PM · four and a half hours (with intermission and shared refreshments) | The Symphony | The Cast\nVI. April 4\, 2 PM · four and a half hours (with intermission and shared refreshments) | The Symphony | The Cast \nSince 1995\, Heather Kravas has investigated choreographic\, somatic\, and collaborative practices in contemporary dance to explore the edges of performance. For Made in Seattle\, she offers RoCoCoCoCo—an evolving cycle of four dances\, shared across four evenings and culminating in two full-length presentations of the complete work. \nImagined as a DIY folk dance that turns into a snowflake\, fractals into a vortex\, veers into a grocery list\, emanates like an aura\, aligns like a pinball machine\, and collaborates like an ant colony\, RoCoCoCoCo slips beyond classification. \nInstead\, it proposes a new structure for performance—one that holds dancers and audiences alike in states of heightened attention\, curiosity\, and desire. Guided by the somatic dramaturgy of longtime collaborator Rebecca Brooks\, RoCoCoCoCo is created for Allie Hankins\, Carlin Kramer\, Amanda Morgan\, Symone Sanz\, Sylvia Schatz-Allison\, and Julia Sloane. The work traces the layered effort of dancing together—energetic\, rhythmic\, precise\, and tender. It invites us to sense how intimacy scales\, how perception expands\, and how dancing itself becomes a site for both clarity and complexity—a space of shared and essential presence. \nRoCoCoCoCo takes place in the black box of 12th Avenue Arts\, with spectators seated on three sides of the stage. The dancers share the space with two pianists performing Terry Riley’s Keyboard Study No. 1 on upright pianos bound back-to-back. The live sounds of the theater—breath\, footsteps\, resonance—are at times amplified\, at times overtaken by electric music. Lighting\, designed by longtime collaborator Madeline Best\, shifts\, echoing the slow transformations of daylight in nature. \nAudiences are invited to experience RoCoCoCoCo in many ways: as singular performances that stand on their own; as a sequence unfolding across several days; or as the complete work\, gathered in the final two evenings.

SUMMARY:Circa: Duck Pond
DESCRIPTION:Created by Yaron Lifschitz and the Circa Ensemble. \nFeathers will fly in this exuberant take on Swan Lake by the Australian contemporary circus group Circa. The world’s most romantic ballet is re-imagined as a circus spectacular\, full of Circa’s signature physicality and shot through with cheeky humor and a thoroughly contemporary energy. Be swept away by this tale of swans and hapless princes sparkling with quirky touches like the sequined flipper-wearing duck army and a burlesque black swan. There are sumptuous aerials\, jaw-dropping acrobatics and of course…feathers! Touching\, funny and utterly entertaining\, Duck Pond is a tale of identity and finding your true self.

SUMMARY:Rhythm & Rhyme: The Romantics
DESCRIPTION:Rhythm & Rhyme is Noveltease Theatre’s cabaret series pairing burlesque\, poetry\, and live music. Each salon focuses on a different poetic movement or theme\, with a rotating cast of burlesque performers\, bands\, and featured poets to bring salacious sonnets\, ribald rhymes\, and comely cantos to life in an atmosphere of frivolity and intellectual curiosity. \nIn April\, we celebrate National Poetry Month by looking back at the Romantic era\, where poets were treated like rockstars.

SUMMARY:BASE + RADAR: Featuring Alex Tatarsky
DESCRIPTION:Base partners with Under the Radar Festival to create a new residency that brings Alex Tatarsky to Seattle. Three showings April 10 + 11! \nBase\, in partnership with Under the Radar Festival\, is pleased to announce BASE + RADAR! This new residency initiative brings renowned artist Alex Tatarsky to Seattle for an immersive two-week development process in April 2026\, advancing Alex’s latest project and culminating in public showings at Base on April 10–11. \nAbout Alex Tatarsky\nCalled “a hilarious\, finely tuned absurdist” (Theatre Jones) and “one of the most exciting and hilarious performance artists around\,” (Artspace) Alex Tatarsky makes performances in the unfortunate in-between zone of comedy\, performance art\, dance\, theater\, and deluded rant – sometimes with songs. Sad Boys in Harpy Land\, their spiraling clown play about wanting to die\, enjoyed a sold-out double extended run Off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons and was named “Best of 2023” by the New York Times\, New Yorker and ArtForum. They are currently touring Dirt Trip (MoMA PS1)\, a decomposing lecture-performance on fear of clowns and fear of compost\, to community composting sites around the country\, and were a featured artist in the 2024 Whitney Biennial. Along with artist Ming Lin\, Tatarsky is one half of the roving poetic research unit Shanzhai Lyric and its fictional office Canal Street Research Association. \nAbout BASE + RADAR\nThis new\, collaborative residency model is designed to give artists an opportunity to develop work in an immersive\, supportive environment while engaging a new community in the work’s evolution. In this inaugural edition\, Tatarsky will experiment with a new piece\, working with long-time collaborators Shane Riley (sound)\, Andreea Mincic (scenic\, costumes) and Iris McCloughan (co-direction\, dramaturgy) as well as a rotating cast of local Seattle-based outside eyes. Tatarsky and collaborators will have 24/7 access to Base and the chance to share their work in two public showings. SUMMARY:Full Tilt 2026
DESCRIPTION:Join Evoke Productions for their nineteenth annual production of Full Tilt\, an evening of\nnew independent dance works. Evoke Productions produces new works from five local\nchoreographers; Olivia Evans\, Diana Kim\, Marlo Martin\, Heather Smith & Samantha\nWeissbach\, and dani tirrell. This year we are pleased to produce Washington DC based\nchoreographer Madeline Maxine Roman. Dancers were selected from an open casting\naudition. There will be three performances at Seattle’s NOD Theater. \n“It’s clear that this well-oiled machine is a vital part of the Seattle dance performance\ncalendar; it not only successfully identifies choreographers on-the-rise but provides an\noutlet for more established dance-makers\, as well. Evoke Productions has created an\ninvaluable opportunity for Seattle dance artists that’s worth getting involved with in any\ncapacity—as a performer\, choreographer\, or audience member.” – SeattleDances \nAdvance Tickets: $30 general / $25 seniors\, students\, and working artists\,\nAt the Door Tickets: $35 general/ $30 seniors and students\nMore information: www.evokeproductions.org\nTickets: http://universe.com/FullTilt2026 \nHeather Smith & Samantha Weissbach (Equipoise Dance) create a new work\ncentered on the concept of a human tapestry. Each dancer’s life experiences inform the\nmovement\, shaping unique textures and patterns within the choreography. Using\nguided meditation as a starting point\, the dancers generate material rooted in personal\nhistory\, which is then reshaped and reimagined to explore change\, resilience\, and\ncollective storytelling. \nMadeline Maxine Roman’s Blink of an Eye blends inspiration from time travel\, stop-\nmotion animation\, and paper textures to confront how life only moves forward.\nFeaturing an original live score by her wife and artistic collaborator\, Valentina Roman\,\nthe dancers move through moments that stretch endlessly\, collapse instantly\, and blur\ninto one another\, with time slipping through their bodies as it does our own. \nDiana Kim’s latest work asks if we are able to ever truly break free from the cycles of\nour trauma. Inspired by the phrase “I am not a violent dog\, I don't know why I bite” the\npiece flows through a journey of introspection becoming more nightmarish as layers are\nstripped away. The 10 dancer ensemble explores repetition\, time\, uniformity\, and\ncontrol to show that even in the act of attempting to break free from our past we may\nstill bring others down with us. “I bite because it is all I have ever known.” \nAs always\, Marlo Martin\, is most interested in the artists in the room and molds the\nwork around the specific individuals in the cast. She spends time witnessing and is\ngenuinely interested in each dancer’s energy\, their preferences as a mover\, and their\nwillingness to dive into work with vulnerability. Based on the human experience as she\nhas experienced Marlo weaves a wild tapestry of patterns\, highly physical movement\,\nand brave hearts. Martin’s “lingering” playfully and poetically examines patterns of\ninterpersonal and social dynamics within humankind. More specifically it is based on\nperception and the practices of assumption\, form identification\, and desensitization. \nOlivia Evans‘ latest work embodies the feeling of anticipation. This urge to imagine\nsomething over and over again\, trying to play out every possible scenario of how it\nmight go. And then\, when this imagined thing occurs\, it often turns out that feeling the\npre-emptive anticipation was far more effortful than the experience it built up to. What\nwas thought to be the climax ends up being anti-climactic. Repetition is a largely used\ntool in this piece\, and Olivia has challenged herself to devise a plethora of unique ways\nin which to utilize it. The piece will ebb and flow\, building up towards potential climaxes\nand then faltering short. Still in development\, an original score by local musician Paul\nStovall will enhance the movement ideas generated collaboratively between Olivia and\nher cast. \ndani tirrell’s work creates a world grounded in spiritual practice and draws from Black\nAmerican life and Black American movement practice\, using a sound and movement\nscore that includes gospel\, house\, and instrumental music. \nEvoke Productions is an Associated Program of Shunpike.

If we were to turn off the engines of exploitation\, how would the trauma we carry and the damaged planet transform? How could we practice inter-species care\, care for the planet\, recognition of harm and attempt reparation on the largest possible scale? \nIn this world\, what did humanity ultimately achieve through designing its own end? \nFeaturing Serena Chopra\, Alyza DelPan-Monley\, HATLO\, Lío Sainz-Jones\, and Fox Whitney. \nMusic by scott farkas and Paulina Michels

SUMMARY:Cornish Dance Theater
DESCRIPTION:Cornish College of the Arts at Seattle University’s Dance Department is proud to the present the Spring 2026 Cornish Dance Theater\, on April 10 – 11 at the Lee Center for the Arts at Seattle University. \nCornish Dance Theater is a bi-annual production where guest choreographers are invited to devise pieces in collaboration with Cornish student dancers.
