SUMMARY:Land of the Sweets: The Burlesque Nutcracker
DESCRIPTION:Land Of The Sweets: The Burlesque Nutcracker storms back to Triple Door for its dazzling 20th anniversary season—where the Tchaikovsky classic melds with jazz-age sizzle in Seattle’s most sophisticated theatrical revue. \nForget everything you think you know about cabaret. Land Of The Sweets brings together an extraordinary artistic team under the direction of locally beloved\, internationally celebrated Lily Verlaine. Musical mastermind Jasper McCann creates original songs and script\, Kate Olson leads a swinging nine-piece orchestra\, and the ensemble features world-class dancers from premier companies\, virtuoso musicians who contract with Seattle Opera and Symphony\, plus costume designers from Pacific Northwest Ballet and Teatro Zinzanni. The payoff? A breathtaking spectacle that’s enamored critics (“The Best Burlesque In Western Washington”) and claimed trophies at Las Vegas’ legendary Burlesque Hall of Fame. \nWhen the snow flies and the spirits soar: A blizzard sends the denizens from the Lands of Tea\, Chocolate\, and Coffee to seek warmth at Charles Drosselmingus’ legendary holiday afterparty\, where Tchaikovsky’s melodies get the full jazz treatment\, McCann’s original songs drip with golden-age Hollywood glamour\, and the night explodes with aerial magic on a floating harp\, wickedly clever tap and ballet\, and variety acts that cheekily reinvent—and flawlessly execute—the traditional ballet’s most iconic moments. \nBroadway-caliber costumes. Original compositions and unforgettable musicality.  Choreography that fuses classical precision with vintage American verve. This is theatrical artistry designed to seduce your senses and leave you breathless. \n25 performances. 20 years of pure magic. Your seat awaits.
