SUMMARY:Whim W'Him Spring '26
DESCRIPTION:featuring new creations by \n\n\nRena Butler\, James Gregg\, Olivier Wevers \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMAY 8 – 16\, 2026 @ 8:00 PM | Cornish Playhouse\nMAY 14\, 2026 @ 7:30 PM | Vashon Center for the Arts \n  \n\n\nAs the season comes to a close\, we welcome back three visionary choreographers whose previous works have left lasting impressions on the company and its audiences. This spring\, they return with new creations that push boundaries and invite reflection. \nRena Butler brings a new work following her powerful 2020 dance film\, “E=16-0163-TSX”\, originally created during the pandemic on our WHIM-IN platform. She describes her new work as an exploration of dissecting the self and our shared humanity – how breaking ourselves down reveals the ways we reflect and intersect with one another. Her choreography invites us into this humbling\, intricate process of self and communal discovery. \nJames Gregg\, who first captivated Whim W’Him audiences in 2016 with his duet “Into you I go willingly”\, returns to build on his bold and physical artistry. His latest creation promises the same intricate\, emotionally charged movement but elevated by a decade of research and exploration. \nArtistic Director Olivier Wevers offers a new creation that continues his ongoing investigation into human expression\, connection\, and transformation. His choreography continues to engage performers and audiences with meaningful queries and his ever-involving partnering exploration. \nJoin us for this powerful closing chapter of the season where dance becomes a space for reflection\, relationship\, and renewal.

SUMMARY:Whim W'Him: Winter '26 (Seattle)
DESCRIPTION:Whim W’Him opens the new year with a powerful winter program that reaffirms its place at the forefront of contemporary dance on the global stage. This program brings back three acclaimed choreographers who continue to help define the company’s artistic identity while expanding the reach of dance as a language of humanity. \nFLOCK\, the creative duo of Alice Klock and Florian Lochner\, reunites with Whim W’Him following their memorable pandemic-era dance film “NOVA”\, created for the company’s digital WHIM-IN platform. Their collaborative process\, rooted in trust\, empathy\, and intuition\, creates work known for its emotional clarity and fluid almost hypnotizing form. \nEmilie Leriche’s first piece for Whim W’Him\, “and if not\, not”\, offered a meditation on change that unfolded inward rather than forward. As she described\, “Sometimes a piece can represent a crossing… not in a from-here-to-there sort of way. But rather in its depth\, in its deconstruction… everything (even ourselves) is entirely changed.” Her new creation continues that journey\, an inward unfolding shaped by her quiet force and introspective power. \nOlivier Wevers\, founder and artistic director of Whim W’Him\, contributes a new creation rooted in his ongoing pursuit of connection\, truth\, and vulnerability. Known for his emotionally honest and visually striking choreography\, his work continues to offer a distinct vision of what dance can uncover in us and between us.

SUMMARY:Whim W'him: Fall '25
DESCRIPTION:Whim W’Him’s annual Fall Choreographic Shindig invites our company dancers to take the curatorial lead. Each year\, they select three choreographers from a highly competitive pool of international applicants\, creating a program that reflects their unique artistic perspectives and priorities. \nThis Shindig’s lineup features Chloe Crenshaw\, Genna Moroni\, and Lea Ved – three choreographers with distinct voices and powerful visions. Chloe shapes dreamlike terrain with precision and depth\, blending emotional nuance with sharp structural clarity. Genna’s work emerges from instinct and immediacy\, blending cinematic presence with deeply personal movement. At once intimate and expansive\, Lea’s work emerges from rigorous physical inquiry that invites vulnerability and transformation. Together\, these artists bring a compelling range of vocabularies and relevant meaning to the stage. \nJoin us for our special Sunday matinee on September 14\, hosted by our favorite queen of charm and cheek\, Betty Wetter\, back to stir things up with her signature wit and warmth.
