Seeking African or African-American female dancer with styles of south-central Africa
Global Artists Collective supports the African cultural drum & dance ensemble Maya Soleil Traditions in booking and managment. The ensemble has members from west African countries (Guinea and Ghana) and from Zambia at present. The group is by design not limited to dance, drum and vocal styles of one country or a specific tribe. Core members include Moye Kashimbi of Zambia, and Awal Alhassan and Sheimawu Abubakari of Ghana. Shows include from 3 to 6 members in the ensemble depending on budget. We are seeking an experienced African or African-American female dancer familiar with styles of south-central Africa. Vocal and/or drumming skills are a plus. Performances are generally 30-90 minutes long and are paid at union scale (or close). Union membership and extensive professional stage experience is not required. Rehearsal is typically either in Seattle or Woodinville.
