SUMMARY:UW Department of Dance: Dance Majors Concert 2025
DESCRIPTION:This year’s Dance Majors Concert 2025 will present seven premieres of student-choreographed works. Drawing inspiration from their experiences with community\, love\, loss\, and even neuroscience\, the undergraduates collaborate with designers and mentors to bring their visions to life. \n  \n2025 UW Dance Major Choreographers: Gavin Besteman\, Kate Hancock\, Char Hertel\, Colleen McKibben\, Sachiko Miyoshi\, Ashlyn Morgan\, Joan Swartwood \nThe University of Washington Department of Dance believes dance is for everybody. We expand the meanings and experiences of dance as a field of study and a living art form. We employ pedagogical perspectives\, research approaches\, dance-making methods\, and performance philosophies that are historically and culturally informed to elevate the value of play\, creativity\, critical thinking\, and embodied knowledge for our students and global communities. \n  \nThrough the completion of the UW Department of Dance dance-making course series\, dance majors are able to hone their practice and present their works in the Dance Majors Concert\, training to find their voices within the larger dance community.
