SUMMARY:Circa: Duck Pond
DESCRIPTION:Created by Yaron Lifschitz and the Circa Ensemble. \nFeathers will fly in this exuberant take on Swan Lake by the Australian contemporary circus group Circa. The world’s most romantic ballet is re-imagined as a circus spectacular\, full of Circa’s signature physicality and shot through with cheeky humor and a thoroughly contemporary energy. Be swept away by this tale of swans and hapless princes sparkling with quirky touches like the sequined flipper-wearing duck army and a burlesque black swan. There are sumptuous aerials\, jaw-dropping acrobatics and of course…feathers! Touching\, funny and utterly entertaining\, Duck Pond is a tale of identity and finding your true self.

SUMMARY:Complexions Contemporary Ballet
DESCRIPTION:Led by dance icons Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson\, Complexions Contemporary Ballet exhilarates audiences with their boundary-defying fusion of modern dance and contemporary ballet. With a rich Alvin Ailey lineage and a cadre of stunning dancers\, Complexions has been hailed as a “matchless American dance company” by the Philadelphia Inquirer. \nFollowing their highly successful David Bowie tribute\, the internationally acclaimed company once again blends the world of rock and ballet with a tribute to the legendary Irish rock band U2. The second act of the evening will be entirely dedicated to For Crying Out Loud\, featuring some of U2’s most iconic hits\, including Where the Streets Have No Name\, Every Breaking Wave\, With or Without You\, I Will Follow and Pride (In the Name of Love). \nThe first half of the performance showcases a diverse mixed repertory program from Complexions’ rich 30-year history\, featuring ballets such as This Time\, With Feeling (2024)\, Deeply (2024)\, Ave Maria (1995)\, Gone (2000)\, and Mercy (2009). This eclectic mix of works highlights the versatility and innovation of Complexions’ artistic vision as a trailblazer in transforming ballet into a more inclusive art form. \nCompanies like Complexions are game-changing: they’re forging a path for what ballet can be instead of what it historically has been.\n— The Guardian \nNOTE: theatrical haze will be used in this performance. \n\nDance Series generously underwritten by Ira & Courtney Gerlich
