SUMMARY:Capturing Grace
DESCRIPTION:This event will be held at UW Communications Building\, Room 120 Lecture Hall. Registration required. Reserve your spot \nIt seems like two separate realms. One is occupied by acclaimed dancers from Brooklyn’s world-renowned Mark Morris Dance Group\, the other by people with Parkinson’s disease. \nCAPTURING GRACE is about what happens when those two worlds intersect. Filmed over the course of a year\, Dave Iverson’s remarkable documentary reveals the hopes\, fears\, and triumphs of this newly forged community as they work together to create a unique\, life-changing performance. \nThis film screening is part of the Moving Life Film Series\, presented in partnership with the UW Simpson Center for the Humanities and the UW Department of Dance.

SUMMARY:Can You Bring It: Bill T. Jones and D-Man in the Waters
DESCRIPTION:his event will be held at UW Communications Building\, Room 120 Lecture Hall. Registration required. Reserve your spot \nJoin us for a feature documentary that traces the remarkable history and legacy of one of the most important works of art to come out of the age of AIDS –choreographer Bill T. Jones’s tour de force ballet “D-Man in the Waters.” There will be a post-screening discussion with Bill T. Jones and Berette S Macaulay. \nIn 1989\, D-Man in the Waters gave physical manifestation to the fear\, anger\, grief\, and hope for salvation that the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company felt as they were embattled by the AIDS pandemic. As a group of young dancers reconstructs the dance\, they learn about this oft forgotten history and deepen their understanding of the power of art in a time of plague. \nThis film screening is part of the Moving Life Film Series\, presented in partnership with the UW Simpson Center for the Humanities and the UW Department of Dance.
