The inhabitants of the piece take a pilgrimage across a landscape through the liminality of loss in search of awe–the connection to vastness that pulls us from the brink of horror.\nIn the midst of nature’s cyclical patterns that wreck ships and build sand dunes\, humanity’s constructed systems that push outliers to the edges and connect us to the design of our past\, we map the imaginal space of the afterlife. In the process we reshape ourselves around who we’ve lost and chart a new course. One that allows us to carry them with us into the still unknown.\nCast:\nEllie van Bever\nSara Caplan\nChloe Dylla\nRainbow Fletcher\nNicole Flores\nMadeleine Gregor\nMaisy Neill\nJanet Nguyen\nAlana O Rogers\nGuest: Devin Muñoz \nSet Contribution from: Julie Alexander \nC. I moved to Seattle shortly after earning my BA in Studio Arts and Art History from Wichita State and within a few years co-founded Coriolis Dance with colleague Natascha Greenwalt. I served as Co-artistic Director for 14 years dancing\, creating work\, and developing a movement research method called Postballet with Natascha and Mariko Nagashima. \nMy dance works span from site-specific installations to films to traditional theater works. The full-evening installation dance work What is Home an Obscure Kingdom an Opera Buffa It’s You Always You was a multi-stage interactive installation performance\, co-presented by Northwest Film Forum and supported by Velocity’s Creative Residency in 2018. \nI have a long history of collaboration with artists across disciplines\, as well\, most recently with sculptor Sarah Fetterman at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. SUMMARY:Just Love Again
DESCRIPTION:Karin Stevens Dance reintroduces one of our most impactful works. In October\, we premiered Just Love. This March\, join us for Just Love Again. \nAfter receiving personal and touching feedback from our audiences a few months ago\, we decided returning this work for a second weekend of performances would be appreciated and timely. Karin Stevens Dance hopes that this work can serve as a reprieve and a brief return to the values of deep communal support\, and environmental interconnectedness. \nJust Love Again is an intricately shifting journey in friendship\, the communal and loving presence between four dancers\, underlined by groovy music. Featuring predominately jazz and new classical sounds\, the stage is set for an abundance of unique movement and spatial design where solos and duets interact in a quartet form. The partnering work between dancers is skillfully crafted by Stevens’ signature aim for an organic feel\, which resonates with the ecological interdependence of a wild forest.
