Full Tilt 2026

Join Evoke Productions for their nineteenth annual production of Full Tilt, an evening of
new independent dance works. Evoke Productions produces new works from five local
choreographers; Olivia Evans, Diana Kim, Marlo Martin, Heather Smith & Samantha
Weissbach, and dani tirrell. This year we are pleased to produce Washington DC based
choreographer Madeline Maxine Roman. Dancers were selected from an open casting
audition. There will be three performances at Seattle’s NOD Theater.

Heather Smith & Samantha Weissbach (Equipoise Dance) create a new work
centered on the concept of a human tapestry. Each dancer’s life experiences inform the
movement, shaping unique textures and patterns within the choreography. Using
guided meditation as a starting point, the dancers generate material rooted in personal
history, which is then reshaped and reimagined to explore change, resilience, and
collective storytelling.

Madeline Maxine Roman’s Blink of an Eye blends inspiration from time travel, stop-
motion animation, and paper textures to confront how life only moves forward.
Featuring an original live score by her wife and artistic collaborator, Valentina Roman,
the dancers move through moments that stretch endlessly, collapse instantly, and blur
into one another, with time slipping through their bodies as it does our own.

Diana Kim’s latest work asks if we are able to ever truly break free from the cycles of
our trauma. Inspired by the phrase “I am not a violent dog, I don't know why I bite” the
piece flows through a journey of introspection becoming more nightmarish as layers are
stripped away. The 10 dancer ensemble explores repetition, time, uniformity, and
control to show that even in the act of attempting to break free from our past we may
still bring others down with us. “I bite because it is all I have ever known.”

As always, Marlo Martin, is most interested in the artists in the room and molds the
work around the specific individuals in the cast. She spends time witnessing and is
genuinely interested in each dancer’s energy, their preferences as a mover, and their
willingness to dive into work with vulnerability. Based on the human experience as she
has experienced Marlo weaves a wild tapestry of patterns, highly physical movement,
and brave hearts. Martin’s “lingering” playfully and poetically examines patterns of
interpersonal and social dynamics within humankind. More specifically it is based on
perception and the practices of assumption, form identification, and desensitization.

Olivia Evans‘ latest work embodies the feeling of anticipation. This urge to imagine
something over and over again, trying to play out every possible scenario of how it
might go. And then, when this imagined thing occurs, it often turns out that feeling the
pre-emptive anticipation was far more effortful than the experience it built up to. What
was thought to be the climax ends up being anti-climactic. Repetition is a largely used
tool in this piece, and Olivia has challenged herself to devise a plethora of unique ways
in which to utilize it. The piece will ebb and flow, building up towards potential climaxes
and then faltering short. Still in development, an original score by local musician Paul
Stovall will enhance the movement ideas generated collaboratively between Olivia and
her cast.

dani tirrell’s work creates a world grounded in spiritual practice and draws from Black
American life and Black American movement practice, using a sound and movement
score that includes gospel, house, and instrumental music.
