Dancer and installation artist Katrina Wolfe will present a new performance in four parts. This series will feature an expansive installation made from recycled paper, mirrors, and the suspended branches of vine maple, purple smoke, and red-leaf cherry trees. Over the course of four weeks, the installation will be altered during and between each performance, creating a new visual experience as the piece progresses.
Sound artists Michael Shannon and David Stanford will enhance the transformation and eventual deconstruction of the installation by creating a distinctly unique soundscape for each evening of the performance series. Katrina’s movement will be a holistic and open response to her tactile interaction with the environment: from the sounds created by Micheal and David to the sounds of the materials themselves and to the energy of the audience.
The site-specific, final performance of the series will be in celebration of the Spring Equinox, and will incorporate what remains of the installation with the elements of fire, water, wind, and earth.
